The Center for the Study of New Testament Manuscripts is a very useful ministry which produces high quality facsimiles of New Testament manuscripts and catalogues them. They have discovered some manuscripts that are not known from other catalogues.
Recently they were invited to photograph an undocumented manuscript. This would be exciting except it turned out to be fraudulent.
And so the riddle of an unknown Greek manuscript is solved. What could have been a thrilling new discovery turns out to be a modern forgery. The work was not all in vain, of course. In the process our team learned a good deal about how to spot a forgery.
